Mothers and Members Sunday May 13
I’m looking forward to Sunday!
We’ll be joining together with our families as we commit to being faithful parents and a faithful church.
We’ll also celebrate what God is doing among us by adding 8 new members and focusing on what it means to be the church.
Come and celebrate what God is doing.
Fish Fry & Bluegrass Benefit and Fifth Sunday Fellowship
Fish Fry & Gospel Bluegrass Benefit
On Saturday, April 28 beginning at 5:00pm, we will host a fish fry and enjoy gospel bluegrass music. The Prowell Family Band will provide the music which starts at 6:00pm. There will also be live and silent auctions. Suggested donation is $10 per person and all proceeds will benefit Barrick Green and Mark Barnes.
Barrick is just 6 years old and has been fighting a rare and aggressive form of cancer that is found in young children. Mark is battling liver disease, MDS and Hepatitis C. Needless to say, there are mounting medical bills for both of them.
To raise funds for these families, we are requesting silent auction items such as gift cards/certificates and baked goods and also food donations for the dinner. Donated items would be greatly appreciated so that more of the monetary donations can go toward the needs of Barrick and Mark.
Fifth Sunday Fellowship
The following day, April 29, is our fifth Sunday fellowship dinner immediately following the service. Please bring your favorite dish and/or dessert! Also, the Prowell Family Band will share their gospel bluegrass with us during the worship service. As a reminder, there will be no evening service on this day.
Secret Church Simulcast – April 6
You may be wondering, what is Secret Church? Click here for a brief video.
Secret Church Simulcast is six intense hours of biblical teaching and prayer for the persecuted church led by David Platt, pastor of The Church at Brook Hills in Birmingham, AL. Please join us at 6:00pm on April 6 at the home of Glenn & Renee Wilson to participate in this simulcast.
The Cross and Suffering
Last year thousands of churches and small groups all over the world participated in Secret Church via a LifeWay simulcast. And the impact was phenomenal. This coming Good Friday, April 6, 2012, churches and small groups again have the opportunity to participate in yet another Secret Church.
Suffering is a sobering reality in a fallen world. Followers of Christ are not immune to adversity and affliction. On the contrary, there is a real sense in which following Christ means that trials and tribulations are more likely to come our way. As a result, whether walking through sickness, sorrow, pain, or persecution, the questions abound:
- Why am I suffering?
- Where is God when I suffer?
- How can I suffer well?
- When will my suffering end?
- How can God be good and allow such evil in the world?
- How can God be gracious and ordain such suffering in my life?
During this Secret Church on Good Friday, we will explore these extremely profound yet deeply personal questions through the lens of Christ’s sufferings on the cross. In the process, we will come to a surprising discovery of how the gospel strengthens, sustains, supports, and ultimately satisfies us in the middle of suffering.
